Supplying High-Strength Paving To Busy Bristol Port

Brett Landscaping and Building Products has supplied its Zeta Lock paving for a new steel storage facility at Bristol Port. The purpose-built warehouse has increased the port's total steel storage capacity to over 150,000 tonnes, further strengthening its capability to support industries across the UK, including automotive and manufacturing.

With the warehouse set to store a significant amount of steel, as well as experience daily movement from heavy vehicles, equipment, and machinery operating inside the building every day, the project required a flooring solution capable of delivering long-term durability with minimal maintenance.

After working closely with the project team, Brett Landscaping and Building Products demonstrated that it’s product, Zeta Lock block paving, would provide the strength and durability needed for the application. More than 8,000m² was supplied to the project in total.

Jamie Gledhill, Engineering Technical Manager at Brett Landscaping and Building Products, said: Although Zeta Lock paving is typically seen in outdoor environments, it proved to be the perfect fit for this project. Its 16-sided shape allows each block to lock tightly together, creating a stable surface designed for demanding industrial environments. Compared with alternatives such as concrete, asphalt and traditional block paving, it offered the best combination of strength, durability and long-term performance.”

The paving was installed by Tolly Group, whom the team at Brett Landscaping & Building Products have a long-standing relationship with, as Mark Pointer, Managing Director at Tolly Group, explains:

“We have worked with Brett Landscaping and Building Products on similar schemes and have developed a strong relationship with their logistics team, who ensured that daily schedules were carefully programmed. This enabled us to install between 600 to 700m² of paving per day, keeping us on track.”
