Brett 110 - Capital Concrete Walk To Support Cancer Charities

A group of 31 Capital Concrete employees, owner/drivers and family members set off on an 11-mile walk along the River Thames recently, raising a total of £2,760 for charity as part of Brett Group’s ‘110 Years’ celebrations

On this occasion employees came together to support their colleague, Andy Richardson, a fitter with the company, who has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Bill Brett, Chairman of Brett Group, who also took part in the walk, presented Andy with a cheque for £2,200 to which a further £560 was raised through donations from colleagues. The proceeds will be split equally between two charities – the local branch of Cancer Research UK at Blackheath and St Clare’s Hospice, Hastingwood, Essex.

Setting off from Capital Concrete’s Silvertown plant at Peruvian Wharf on the Thames, the group headed east to Woolwich, where they took the foot tunnel under the river before making their way west to Greenwich.  The group finished their walk by sharing some well-deserved refreshments.

Luke Smith, Managing Director of Capital Concrete said, “We are really pleased with the number of people who came along to show their support for these two charities, and to help us mark the Group’s 110th year and Capital Concrete’s first year. It was a great day and everyone enjoyed it.”
