Prime Location For Amazon Delivery

Brett Concrete supplies to the new £155m Amazon fulfilment centre at Tilbury Docks

An order from Gallagher Contractors Ltd. valued at over £1.2m was one of the first major contracts to be fulfilled at the company’s new Simem batching plant at Rainham in Essex.

The contract was to supply 15,500m3 of ready-mixed concrete for Amazon (UK)’s new £155m fulfilment centre at Tilbury Docks– that’s around 2,000 full mixer truck loads. When completed, the 200,000-sq. ft. building will act as a packaging and distribution centre for Amazon (UK), providing 1,500 new jobs.

“The Rainham plant can output 70m3 of ready-mixed concrete an hour and this level of productivity coupled with our local delivery capabilities meant that we were well-placed to meet our customers’ supply needs,” says Field Sales Manager, Dave Amos. “Any day could see up to ten trucks supplying up to six loads.”

“Most of this work was delivered by owner drivers, Nick Treadwell, Mark Lester, Keith Cleland and Constantin Nicolau, with others being transferred in from neighbouring plants on busier days.“ Transport Manager, Gregg James, comments: “The teamwork involved in supplying this site with the consistency required was paramount. This project is a great example of what we can
achieve when we all pull together.”
