Brett Concrete Supplies Major Waste-To-Energy Project

Brett Concrete is in the latter stages of supplying more than 20,000m3 from our Sittingbourne and Sheppey plant at Ridham to Clugston Construction for the Wheelabrator Kemsley Generating Station at Kemsley Mill in Kent.

Designed to process up to 550,000 tonnes of residual waste a year, the combined heat and power facility at Kemsley will divert post-recycled UK waste from landfill or export and create sustainable, clean energy for the local community.

“This is the second major waste-to-energy project where Brett Concrete has supplied Clugston in the area,” says Field Sales Manager, Peter Fowkes, “The service we provided on the first order played a crucial role in securing this additional work and further strengthening our good relationship.

“There have been some very large pours – more than 500m3 a day – which needed careful planning and management.

Clugston Project Manager at Kemsley EfW, Neil Webster comments: “Following the very successful Biomass project at Ridham, Clugston were very keen to build on the relationship and again work with Brett Concrete as a key supplier for Kemsley. We knew the location of the Ridham plant was ideal, very customer-focused, and that Brett has a network of plants to provide the back-up supply if required".
