Brett Makes Beach Party Possible

Residents, friends and family enjoyed the blazing sunshine at Connors House, residential care home in Canterbury,

Residents, friends and family enjoyed the blazing sunshine at Connors House, residential care home in Canterbury, beach party on Friday, 4 June thanks to Brett Aggregates who supplied the golden sand for everyone to enjoy.

Brett Aggregates worked with Connors House to provide the sand, which was no easy task as it involved getting the sand in to bags and then delivered to the home.

The real sand beach was very authentic with colourful deck chairs, real crabs and buckets and spades and the hot weather made it feel like the Mediterranean - ice creams had to be devoured quickly before they melted.

Punch & Judy shows entertained everyone throughout the day and children cooled off in the paddling pools and played in the sand. Residents enjoyed a pampering session with massages and manicures and when the intense heat of the day had eased everyone enjoyed a BBQ.

Everyone got involved in a variety of ways and Michelle, the home’s Administrator, wasn’t afraid to get stuck-in and was arm deep in water and suds cleaning cars to raise money for the home.

We were thrilled to see our sand giving so much pleasure to the residents and families connected with Connors House.

Christine Devlin, Care Co-ordinator, comments: “We couldn’t have asked for a better day, it was 30 degrees and so hot, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. We’re very grateful to Brett Aggregates for providing the sand and the beach gave residents the seaside experience on their doorstep. Thanks to everyone for making it happen. We also raised over £60 which will go towards trips out for residents.”
