Safety of cyclists and pedestrians remains an ongoing focus for the construction industry as a whole. Brett Aggregates is a member of the FORS scheme which is a well-established initiative run by Transport for London with the aim of improving safety for all road users. Brett Aggregates are now a silver member of the scheme and have worked closely with FORS to bring the same standards to their own fleet.

Some of the more recent vehicle safety improvements made to the Brett fleet to support this have been the addition of cameras in tipper and mixer cabs, and safety warning alarms and lights to alert pedestrian and cyclists to vehicles that are turning or reversing. 

Tom Clubb, Transport Manager for Kent and London & Home Counties tells us that Brett Aggregates, in conjunction with FOR’s (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) and CLOCs (Construction Logistics and Cyclist Safety) were recently asked to help evaluate a DAF low-height vehicle from a road safety point of view. Any suggestions or comments from the drivers were then fed back to the DAF design team for their consideration.
