Helping To Raise Funds for Childrens' Charity
Brett has helped to raise funds for the UK charity Action Medical Research by sponsoring their annual Ziggurat bicycle ride, which took place in September and supports research into childhood diseases.
The annual Ziggurat ride is the construction industry’s opportunity to help raise money and awareness for the cause.
This year’s event saw around 50 riders from across the industry cycle over 235 miles, climbing 17,000 feet on a four-day ride through the stunning yet challenging Tuscan countryside on a route that started in Pisa, carried on through Siena and Florence, and finally ended in Lucca.
Sarah Stevenson, Action Medical Research’s Head of Partnerships, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that this year our riders raised over £215,000 which has helped contribute to a whopping total of over £1.2 million to help fund vital research to help change the lives of children affected by disease and disability.
"Everyone at Action is so grateful to all the riders who took part in Ziggurat, in particular our dedicated sponsors – Brett, Day Group, Maylim, Herbosch-Kiere and SIG – without their contribution and support, this ride would not be possible.”
5o riders from across the construction industry including the Brett team - Bill Brett, Phil Coupland and Tim Smith - took part in the Ziggurat charity bike ride
Bill Brett, Chairman of the Brett Group, commented:
“Brett has been involved with the Ziggurat ride since it began in 2017. Over the last seven years the event has attracted around 500 people from the construction and building materials industry who have taken part in completing an endurance challenge to raise both awareness of the Action Medical Research charity and funds for their ground-breaking research.
"Brett are extremely proud to sponsor and take part in this yearly event which helps to improve the lives of sick children and their families.”
