Brett Concrete Supports Development at Ipswich Docks

The team at the Ipswich plant supplied 4000m3 of concrete to building contractors Brooks & Wood Ltd for the construction of slabs for an import storage yard at West Bank Terminal, at Ipswich Docks, with deliveries running everyday over the course of six weeks from their nearby Ipswich site. The works form part of an infrastructure expansion by Associated British Ports (ABP) to boost capacity at the docks.

Over two million tonnes of cargo pass through the Port of Ipswich each year - from fertiliser and animal feed to construction materials like aggregates and timber - making it a vital part of the local community and an essential hub for supplying major projects, such as Brett Aggregates’ deliveries of crushed rock to the Sizewell C development.

Scott Mclellan, Senior Operations Supervisor at Brett Concrete, said “Plant supervisor George Jarvis and the team at the Ipswich Central plant have a great relationship with contractors at Brooks & Wood – this, along with excellent planning, ensured the project was a great success.”

Once complete, the new slabs will support and provide a base for offloading, storage and vehicle movement.
