Brett Concrete Delivers for New Logistics Park in Felixstowe
Orwell Logistics Park is a new development in Felixstowe, covering 60 acres and providing over one million square feet of warehouse space across three purpose-built facilities. Ranging from 250,000 to 500,000 square feet each - the equivalent of up to seven football pitches under one roof - the warehouses are designed to support large-scale industrial and infrastructure needs in the East of England and beyond.
Brett Concrete has been delivering to the site for more than three years, supplying concrete for a range of essential works, including external and internal flooring, structural pillars, and slabs.
Most recently, Brett Concrete supported Phase 2 of the development - the construction of the third and final warehouse on site - an individual unit of 500,000 square feet. Over seven weeks, the team at Brett Concrete coordinated the delivery of around 10,000m3 of concrete, working closely with site teams to ensure timely deliveries.
George Jarvis, Plant Supervisor at Brett Concrete’s Ipswich plant, said “With a build of this size, it was important we kept a continuous flow of concrete to the site to maintain workability – which meant delivering every day for seven weeks. It was a real team effort, with support from Brett Concrete plants right across the Southeast - including trucks coming all the way from as far as Canterbury and Tunbridge Wells. Our drivers did a brilliant job keeping everything moving smoothly.”
All three warehouses have now been leased by Sizewell C, who will use the space for storing and managing equipment required for construction works at the nearby power station.
Scott Mclellan, Senior Operations Supervisor at Brett Concrete, said: “Supplying pours of around 400m3 every day for seven weeks in the height of winter is a significant challenge. It was a great team effort by everyone involved at the Ipswich central site - we can all look back with pride at the success of this project.”
