Storage Facility Felixstowe

Storage Facility - Felixstowe

We were commissioned by MJS Projects to help with the creation of a new storage facility near the port of Felixstowe, one of the major commercial ports in the UK.

The original scope of works was to strip the site area of topsoil, excavate and fill to predetermined formation levels, then supply and lay Type 1 sub base.

Prior to arriving at the site the area had experienced very wet weather. This resulted in a considerable amount of excavated  material becoming waterlogged, and therefore unsuitable for use as engineered fill to make up formation levels.

In order to meet the tight delivery timescales of this project Brett plant and earthmoving gained permission to move acceptable clay material from an adjacent area and used this material to make up the site levels as required to keep the works on programme.

We also provided considerable savings to the client by supplying more than 15k tonnes of our quality recycled Type 1 material as an alternative to a primary product .
