Provian Strengthens Position Within Housing Sector

28/03/2011

Provian Construction is approaching the final stages of a new social housing scheme for Sanctuary Group, one of the UK’s leading housing and care providers and represents a huge milestone for Provian as its first social housing scheme.

The project in Ketcham Corner, Sussex, sees the construction of 14 units, being a mix of 2 and 3 bedroom homes. The scheme is being delivered by Provian for developer Cascade, who is in turn working for Sanctuary Group which has a portfolio of over 78,000 units of accommodation across England and Scotland.

Following concept designs which successfully achieved planning approval, Provian secured the £1.25 million design and build project and appointed architectural technicians Giarti and engineers Gary Gabriel Associates. As well as detailed design, Giarti will also be acting as code assessors for the project as the new houses will be built to meet Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

“We have been strategic regarding our entry into this market,” commented Roger Maycock, Provian Construction’s Managing Director. “This project for Sanctuary Group is the right opportunity for us to prove that Provian has the professional infrastructure to satisfy clients in this sector on a repeat basis.”

The 14 new properties will feature timber frames and a traditional inner blockwork skin. Externally they feature a mix of brick cladding and hung tiles. Featuring traditional pitched roofs, the properties will feature high performance insulation and energy efficient heating systems to ensure they meet the requirements of Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes. The properties will also feature either triple glazed windows or solar panels to further enhance their thermal and energy efficiency.

Work is well underway on site with an anticipated completion date of June 2011.
