Kent contractor, Provian Construction, has completed the strip out and refurbishment of the Sports Cafe at the University of Kent, Canterbury.
The project was undertaken as part of ongoing maintenance and improvements to the University’s sports facilities and has seen the cafe transformed into a bright and welcoming space, suitable for eating and socialising.
As part of the comprehensive refurbishment project, Provian incorporated several bespoke solutions including alterations to the service counter, using a hardwearing Corian surface – with all aspects made to measure for the scheme. As well as this, Provian reorganised cupboard space and three large alcoves were fitted to accommodate soft drinks and confectionery vending machines.
Provian utilised three separate flooring types – carpet, vinyl and vinyl tiles – to achieve the contemporary aesthetic required. Other internal works included new lighting, replacement of ceiling tiles, redirection of the drainage system and the installation of a new boiler in the kitchen. To complete the refurbishment, the whole area was repainted to include a vivid lime coloured area to create a stunning finish.
The project was completed during term time in January 2011 with the sports centre remaining operational throughout. Provian’s ability to complete this detailed project within the quick timescale and whilst causing minimal disruption to the University reflects the company’s ability to deliver high quality renovation projects within the education sector.
"Provian Construction has delivered our design very accurately. They delivered on time and in budget without affecting our operations.
