The Marlowe Innovation Centre, successfully constructed by Provian Construction houses high quality space for either office-based or light industrial-based small businesses. The £1.5 million scheme was delivered thanks to European funding, Kent County Council and local entrepreneur Roger de Haan and is set to become a vibrant hub for the people of Ramsgate providing career guidance and information for job hunters whilst providing links to the neighbouring De Haan sponsored Ramsgate Academy. Provian were awarded this prestigious contract by value engineering the build costs of the scheme down by £200,000 from £1.7m to £1.5m. Working closely with Woodley Coles, Provian re-evaulated the requirements of the building and offered solutions to the design team to reduce costs whilst maintaining the functionality of the building. Areas value engineered included the roof materials and construction, aspects of the passive ventilation and the external works, particularly car parking.
