Client: Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust Location: Maidstone Hospital, Kent Value: £2.4 million Contract: Intermediate Form 1998 Amendments 1-5 Year of Completion: 2008 Architects: Building Ideas The works completed by Provian Construction at the hospital involved the construction of a brand new three-storey cardiac catheter laboratory and refurbishment of adjoining wards. Almost £1million of Siemens medical equipment has been installed into the new lead lined 1st floor room of the new building, where patients can have investigatory images taken of their hearts. The innovative design has created a one-way system where patients arrive in the reception and waiting room area before being taken into the lab and leaving via the day ward. The sterile system ensures no cross contamination between patients having undergone procedures and those just arriving. Provian used an innovative self-cleaning polysterene insulation, which was cut to size on site and rendered to provide supreme insulation for the hospital whilst ensuring minimal waste and on site efficiency. Additional work including the refurbishment of several wards was awarded to Provian during the project as a result of the company’s effective delivery of the scheme.
