Provian Construction has a wealth of health sector expertise and are well versed to work within this sensitive environment. Over the past 6 years, Provian have designed and built eight “State of the Art” medical centres across Kent at Canterbury, Sellindge, Larkfield, Lenham, Gillingham, Paddock Wood, Staplehurst and Hythe along with a Health and Community Centre at St Mary’s Island, Chatham. Within recent years we have completed a new Diabetes Unit for the Paula Carr Trust at William Harvey Hospital in Ashford along with a new Ophthalmology Unit at Medway Maritime Hospital and have just completed on site at Maidstone Hospital for the construction of a new Cardiac Catheter Unit and ward refurbishment. The majority of our hospital projects have been completed within occupied fully operational hospital environments and thus careful phasing and the welfare of the public, staff and patients has been of maximum importance during these contracts. Provian have worked to successfully over come issues such as minimal site access and are well accustomed to careful site segregation and the highest level of site safety at all times. Our medical centres vary in size from 550 – 1800sq.m approximately and are of single, two and three storey designs. All the medical centre buildings have predominately been constructed on level green or brownfield sites with good ground bearing strata. The designs have generally been of traditional masonry construction, although we have used steel frame construction, exposed timber beam roofs and “sustainable design and construction” techniques in some of the projects. These projects were all tailored to accommodate both our Client’s and the NHS Trust’s needs.
