Sandwich Technology School

Client: Sandwich Technology School

Location: Sandwich, Kent

Value £3.22 million

Form of Contract: JCT 98

Actual Contract Duration: 92wks

Year of Completion: 2005

This was a complex project within a fully functioning school. The project was carried our over three phases to allow the school to remain fully operational and our building team worked in very close proximity to the pupils and staff. The works involved the construction of a new classroom block and learning resource centre with a canteen and kitchens on the ground floor. Once this was completed staff and pupils vacated old temporary classrooms and moved into their new facilities, which allowed the next phases to commence. The next phases involved alterations and adaptation of the adjoining classrooms into humanities, food technology and meeting rooms. The works also included the construction of a new ‘art-deco style’ 48-seat cinema within the new build classroom block.

“I would like to place on record that our working relationship with Provian Construction was excellent from day one. Throughout the building programme your team fully respected the need to minimise turbulence and disruption to our everyday activities.”

Mr R Wallis – Head Teacher – Sandwich
Technology School (National Head Teacher of the Year 2005)
