Bower Park School, Romford

Client: London Borough of Havering

Location: Romford, Essex

Value: £0.9 million

Form of Contract: JCT Intermediate form of contract with contractors design - 2005 edition

Completion: June 2007

The contract at Bower Park School spreads Provian's geographical boundaries further across the South East and is the thirteenth major education project completed in the past 4 years.

The works involved the upgrade and extension of the existing sports changing facilities and creation of a new all-weather floodlit multi-use games area.

The Pitch will be used for a range of sports, including 11-a-side and 5-a-side football, hockey and netball.

The project, costing £1 million, provides sports facilities for the benefit of both school and community. Funding was met with capital secured by the disposal of the former Gobions School playing field, in line with Government expectations to support school sports priorities within the area.

A further grant from Sport England allowed the school to improve the internal condition of the existing sports hall and create a new Badminton Centre of Excellence.

In addition, an existing under-used playground area is now used for out of school hours parking with a signed pedestrian route to the sports facilities.
