'Basic Needs' Project

Client: Kent County Council

Location: The Community College Whitstable

Value: £3.42 million

Form of Contract: JCT LA with Quantities

Actual Contract Duration: 52wks

Year of Completion: 2005

The successful completion of the CoVE project at the College in December 2004 led to the award of a second contract, a “Basic Needs” project to be spread over three phases, whilst the college remained fully operational. The works involved the demolition of existing science block and construction of new 2-storey Science & Technology block along with alterations and extensions to Dining Hall, formation of new IT Lounge and conversion of CDT block into a new Sixth Form Centre. Provian Construction created ‘State of the Art’ science laboratories, design technology workshops, classrooms and the expansion of dining facilities to cope with the increased number of students.

“Provian have been great partners in the creation of these exciting and innovative buildings and we are grateful for all the hard work and effort that has gone into this amazing improvement to the teaching and learning facilities in the college….”

Mr Bob Jones – Business and Marketing Executive – The Community College
