Quantity Surveyor: Faithful & Gould Phase 1 Success in producing a top quality refurbished archive store in 2004 completed by our Small Works department led to the award of further phases to Provian Construction. The dedicated team for phase one respected that their working environment was the home for the Congregation of our Lady of the Missions and ensured minimal disruption and a friendly atmosphere at all times. The strong relationship built in the early stages allowed our building division to negotiate and secure the next four phases of the Convent redevelopment worth £4.5 million. Phases 2-4 These phases involved the demolition of the former school teaching rooms to house the new 2-storey traditional brick accommodation block including new kitchen facilities food storage room, dining room, living room, laundry room, Mother Superior's room, visitors and community rooms and sacristy rooms on the ground floor. On the first floor 18 bedrooms, each with individual bathroom facilities and storage, were completed. Both stairs and a lift link the two floors. The building is finished a very high quality as specified by our client. Following the completion of these facilities the Nuns were transfered to their new accommodation to allow Provian Construction to to begin Phase 5. Phase 5 The final phase saw the refurbishishment of the buildings on the edge of the site. The existing chapel has a preservation order and was therefore sympathetically stripped out and refurbished, including new roofing and windows. In addition a linkway was built from the convent to the Chapel. Finally, external works within the grounds included a new car park and landscaped planting areas to form an aesthetically pleasing area for the residents.
