Kentish Stour Countryside Project

The Kentish Stour Countryside Project is funded through a partnership of organisations. Brett Group is the primary commercial sponsor and has had a close working relationship with the Project since 1992.
A large part of Brett land runs alongside the River Stour.
Brett Environment Trust was among one of the principal funders in helping to set up their Canterbury Greenspace Project back in 2002 and more recently was proud to sponsor the Ashford Green Corridor Summer Events 2007.
The Kentish Stour Countryside Project works closely with landowners and local communities to promote both landscape and nature conservation, and develop opportunities for appropriate countryside access and informal recreation. It operates as a working partnership of sponsoring organisations, Project staff and local people.
Their Project staff have many years experience of habitat management, practical conservation, working with farmers and local communities on a wide range of projects.
One such project relates to the Ashford Green Corridor, an area made up of parks, recreation grounds and other green spaces alongside the rivers that flow through Ashford. The Ashford Green Corridor Project was set up in 2002 to designate parts of the river corridor as a Local Nature Reserve and to promote & manage it. The Corridor provides a pleasant, relaxing environment for people and habitats for wildlife.

Activity Days for children are organised such as Natural Art, where art is created from the surrounding natural habitat.
Kentish Stour Countryside Project produces the Stour View area newsletters for Canterbury & the Wantsum area, Ashford & the Low Weald and Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
They are always seeking volunteers to take part and lend a hand in a variety of enjoyable and worthwhile practical conservation projects.
