Brett Concrete's state-of the-art terminal at Ridham has already proven its worth as an operation of strategic importance for the whole Brett Group.
The terminal imports cementitious products which Brett uses in concrete or block paving production. By importing these high value materials, such as GGBS, through its own terminal it allows Brett to buy from right across the European market and ensure competitive prices.
Ridham Terminal is unique in that it has a small, close-knit team, with a great deal of flexibility and commitment to the site. The team has played a big part throughout the planning and organising of the Terminal systems and operations and can be proud of the smooth business we now run.
We have to be flexible as we run a shift system where the first powder tankers get loaded from 05.30am and we continue throughout the day until all deliveries are complete. In addition to this we usually have a ship in once a week, which entails some staff being on call 24/7 to supervise these self-discharging vessels into the Terminal. So weekend cover is all part of the job.
Forward planning is essential, whether it is organising ships that enter and exit the facility or planning maintenance work to ensure theTerminal always runs smoothly.
