Cardiff International Sports Village
The Challenge
As part of Cardiffs regeneration programme, the International Sports Village (ISV), based in Cardiff Bay, plays an integral part. It is one of the largest of its kind in Europe, estimated at costing £1.2bn, and it is set to provide a world-class destination for the people of Cardiff and beyond. The ISVs exceptional facilities will allow Wales to play a crucial part in supporting the London Olympics in 2012. The regeneration project covers one square mile of land, divided into half commercial usage, and the rest of the land for a swimming pool and leisure centre, and is due for completion in 2010.
Quality kerbs were needed to complete the infrastructure of the site prior to the main development being undertaken for both buses and other vehicles to access the site.
The Solution
Arup, the global design and business consulting firm, responsible for the design and engineering of the external infrastructure, commissioned Brett Landscaping and Building Products to supply nearly a thousand metres of specialist kerbs needed to complete the infrastructure of the site prior to the main development being undertaken.
Richard Williams, Bretts Specification Manager says: Brett will provide its exclusive kerb range, including: 357 metres of Trief ® Kerbs, 70 metres of Kassel Kerbs plus 597 metres of Trief Cadet Kerbs for six roundabouts and traffic islands, and Kassel kerbs for the bus lanes. This is a flagship redevelopment project and we are pleased to be part of it.
